Located next to the Red River within Gia Lam district, Bat Trang is a seven-century-old pottery village and one of the most well-known traditional handicraft villages in the country. Its ceramics are for daily household use (bowls, cups, plates, pots, and jars), for worshipping, or for decorative purposes. Glazes include ancient pearl, crackle, dark, indigo-blue flower, grey flower, and melt.

The village produces many different types of top-class pottery items that are useful and beautiful and boosts a sense of pottery art. Artists nowadays use many innovations in production techniques and creativity in product features, and even daily household items have a certain beauty.

Visitors to Bat Trang can watch artists make ceramic products by hand or have a try themselves. They also can buy ceramic and pottery items from the village’s many shops.
