New untouched caves discovered in Phong Nha Ke Bang
Twelve new caves where humans have never set foot in were recently discovered in the central province of Quang Binh by experts from the British Cave Research Association. With a total length of more than 10km, the caves also feature underground rivers and are completely pristine, according to experts.
The three caves found in Bo Trach district are Doc Co (554.6m long), End Cave (51.5m) and Dry Vom (413m). Four caves in Quang Ninh district are Nuoc Ngam (3,872m), Nuoc Lan 3 (1,919m), Hung Thoai (460m) and Coincidental Cave (100m). The other five were discovered in Minh Hoa district, namely Three Horned Viper (194.8m), Phu Nhieu 4 (2,012m), Cha Ra (314m), Thoang Lip (137m) and Ma Lon (463m).
Quang Binh is dubbed the “kingdom of caves” with hundreds of caves of various sizes as well as incredible mountain scenery and sprawling beaches. Notably, it is home to Son Doong Cave, which was accredited as the world’s largest and most beautiful natural cave by the World Records Union and the World Records Association, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park./.
